We replaced our roof in May. Neil and I had a small debate about whether we think the brown shingles were nice or not. Here's the picture, you be the judge.
I think the new shingles look great also. Now you will have a dry rainproof house for another 20 years or because you have the new roof it will help it to sell easier. Good investment.

I agree with Galliena. The brown roof does make your house look cozy. :D Always remember to check the chimney and gutters, and make sure to re-apply sealants so that these wouldn’t be passageways of leaks.
I agree with all of them. The house looks awesome. The shingles definitely added some character to the house. Did Sandy bother you, by the way? Do you have any updates? How is everything going now? Willie is on the right track; maintenance and immediate repairs will definitely let your roof hold out longer as time goes by.
I think the brown shingles look great! In our neighborhood, any shingles that are not blowing away in the wind are good shingles.
